Eagleville got the better of Cornersville on the links this past Tuesday afternoon, as they won both the boys and girls matches at Champions Run Golf Course in the season opener for both teams.
Taking the four best rounds from six players, the Eagles posted a team score of 190 after playing the front nine holes at Champions Run, while the Bulldogs finished 11 shots back with a 201. Dakota Beech recorded the lowest score of the day and led Eagleville with a 40. Isaiah Haggard followed Beech with a 49, while Torie Fusco and John Pew tallied a 50 and a 51 respectively.

Great beginning
Eighth grader Kolbe McMahon started his CHS golf career off well and paced Cornersville with a 48. Matthew Karban carded a 50 for the Bulldogs as well, while Tate Lowery and Justin Singleton notched a 50 and a 52 respectively.
"I think we're off to a good start and did well for our first time out," said new CHS coach Joy McMasters. "We have a lot of players out for the team this year and I'm excited for them. I'm happy to be working with a good group of kids."
In the girls match, the Lady Eagles finished with a team score of 99 to take home the victory after taking the top two rounds from three players, while the Lady Bulldogs posted a 123.
2012 State tournament qualifier Brooklyn Snell carded a 44 to lead the way for Eagleville, and Jessie Pew turned in a 55.
Freshmen Emma Reese and Carly Salsman notched the two lowest rounds for CHS, as Reese tallied a 59, while Salsman recorded a 64.
After taking on county rival Forrest at Henry Horton Park this Thursday, Cornersville will return to action next Tuesday when they take on Community at the Lewisburg Recreation Center at 3:30 p.m.
