Response to a 911 call led to the discovery of a marijuana growing operation earlier this week.

On the afternoon of May 18, deputies with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department responded to a 911 call at 1242 Yell Road. When deputies arrived, they were not able to make contact with the occupant of the residence, Bradley Wright, but did come in contact with the property owner, James Wright, Bradley Wright's father.

While on the property, deputies noticed a barn door that was open and they were able to see marijuana growing inside, according to Sheriff Norman Dalton. Dalton contacted agents of the 17th Judicial District Drug Task Force, who arrived to assist in the investigation.

Marshall County deputies and Drug Task Force agents were able to disassemble and seize a very elaborate hydroponic growing operation that contained over 200 marijuana plants being grown at 1242 and 1250 Yell Road.

Dalton said if this marijuana grow operation had not been discovered, it would have put pounds of high-grade marijuana on the streets. This case will be presented to an upcoming Marshall County grand jury.

The Sheriff would like to remind everyone this is the marijuana growing season and anyone with information on where there is marijuana growing should call Crime Stoppers at 359-4867.
