Still reached base
MMC managed to get five runners on base in the contest as Caleb Crowell and Will Vanhooser reached on Elks' fielding errors, Knox Barnes walked and Blake Aldridge walked and was hit by an Anderson pitch in the fifth inning.
Marshall Medical's Austin Grubb, who has tossed a no-hitter already this season gave up just two hits to the Elks, struck out four, walked one and hit two Elks' batters.
Marshall Medical squandered an early scoring opportunity in the top of the second when Crowell led off the frame by reaching on an error.
Crowell stole second base and went to third two batters later when Will Vanhooser reached first when a third strike went to the backstop.
No more threat
Anderson whiffed the next two batters to end the MMC threat in which he tallied the rare feat of four strikeouts in an inning.
MMC also had two-on, and two-out in the top of the third inning, but a groundball to Raymond Cooksey at second base kept the game scoreless.
The Elks broke through in the bottom of the third when Cooksey walked with one out and went to second on an infield hit by Jamonte Perkins.
Both runners moved up one base to second and third on a wild pitch and then Cooksey and Perkins trotted home on a throwing error, making it 2-0.
Stealing a run
Anderson set down MMC 1-2-3 in the top of the fourth inning and with one out in the home half of the stanza, Devon Adeylotte doubled and stole third base before scoring on another MMC error.
The rain began to fall in the top of the fifth, but Anderson managed to get the three outs needed to make it an official ballgame.
