The FMS Rockets were on hard times, losing four straight ballgames before a huge 46-12 win at Moore County Thursday night snapped the skid.
"It did feel great to get back on the right track going into our last game versus county rival Cornersville," said FMS head coach Bart Joyce. "We have been hit with the injury bug the past three weeks and that has given several players the opportunity to step up and play and they've done just that."

Turner turns it on
Stepping up big once again on Thursday in Lynchburg was eighth-grader Troy Turner, who rushed for 163 yards on just six carries.
Turner netted four touchdowns in the blowout win, including a 60-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage.
Besides the 60-yarder for six, Turner had touchdowns runs 43, 31, and 11 yards in the game.
"Turner, along with several other players has come along for us in the last couple of weeks," said Joyce. "It's always good to get that early lead because it just sets the tempo for the game and when we got a big play from Turner to start the game off, the boys just fed off that the rest of the night."
Outstanding start
Forrest would take a 24-6 first quarter lead and never looked back as Bryton Spitzley continued his fine season, rushing for one touchdown and three two-point conversions in the contest.
"Spitzley is just a hard nose runner and he doesn't go down easy," said Joyce. "And if you need that yard or two, he will step up and get it for you. Some of that success is also due to that offensive line we have. They have also worked hard and are playing well."
The Rockets took a 32-6 lead to the halftime break and led 40-6 entering the fourth quarter.
Dakota Hartley rushed for 39 yards on three carries, while Wesley McCoy had 12 yards, including 1-yard TD burst and a two-point conversion run.
Lane LaPorte only attempted two passes in the game, completing one to Dylan Pendley that covered 31 yards.
Season stats
Spitzley has rushed for 579 yards on 105 carries for the season for a 5.5 average and has eight touchdowns and eight two-pointers to lead the FMS squad.
Turner (302 yards on 30 touches) has moved to second place in the rushing category over the past couple of games with a gaudy 10.1 average and 5 TDs.
Hartley has two touchdowns and a two-pointer for the year and has run the rock 49 times for 218 yards (4.4 yards per rush).
The Rockets have a week off as Liberty and Westwood will play in the conference championship game on Thursday.
County clash
Joyce will take his Rockets over to "Frog Bottom" next week to battle the CMS Bulldogs in a non-conference, county bragging rights clash.
Longtime Cornersville High School coach Ray Stocstill mentors the young Dawgs now and Joyce knows that the season ender will be a battle and a great experience for his squad.
"Coach Stocstill will have his boys ready to play for sure," said Joyce. "On top of that it is county rival game because a lot of these kids know each other. We just got work hard in practice and get prepared like any other game. Nothing special, just get better at the things that we do."
