The FMS Lady Rockets were clicking on all cylinders versus Eagleville Tuesday night in Chapel Hill, especially at the outset of the contest when they totally dominated play at both ends of the court to put the game away early in a 42-16 thrashing.

After a single free throw by Makayla Moates auspiciously opened the scoring for the Lady Eagles, Forrest tied the game on a charity shot by Jordan Yelensky.

From there, the Lady Rockets exploded, beginning with a nothing-but-the-bottom-of-the-net three-pointer by Madison Curtis.

Stealing away

With the pressure mounting on the Lady Eagles, Emma Stacey stole the rock from the visitors, leading to a rebound and put-back by Yelensky to make it a 6-1 contest.

Moments later, Katey Harmon came up with a theft and fed Yelensky on the run, who knocked in the layup while being fouled.

Yelensky would drain the foul shot, resulting in a three-point play the old-fashioned way to push FMS's lead to 9-1.

After a couple of Eagleville bricks, Harmon knocked down a jumper and Caitlin McKenzie scored in the paint to stretch the Forrest lead to 13-1.

Another grab

The huge home crowd got an early Halloween treat when Forrest's thievery continued as Harmon stole the ball again and dished to Yelensky on the run for another fast-break bucket, firing up the Chapel Hill faithful and giving the Lady Rockets a commanding 15-1 lead after the first six minutes of play.

Curtis converted a short jumper to begin play in period number two before the Lady Eagles finally scored again on one successful free throw by Karah Snell.

Curtis answered in a big way, pouring in a deep three-bomb to keep the surge going.

Stacey came up with a tie-up in the Eagleville end of the floor and Grace Thrasher made it a 20-point lead at 22-2 for Forrest when she cleaned the glass for a score.

Eagleville missed again and Thrasher scored gain, this time on a pretty back-door feed from McKenzie in the high post.

Trey falls

After a trio of missed shots by Eagleville, Stacey poured salt on the wound, drilling a three-pointer from the wing to extend the Forrest lead to 27-2.

Snell hit two more foul shots and with just seconds remaining in the first half, Snell converted Eagleville's first field goal of the contest, making it 27-6 at the break.

FMS grabbed a loose ball to begin the second half and McKenzie made the turnover hurt with a smooth move in the paint.

A Harmon trip to the foul line resulted in one out of two before Moates matched the free throw for Eagleville.

Moates scored down low and Snell hit another foul shot, making it 32-10, but FMS stayed the course with back-to-back buckets by Emily Yost and Thrasher to give FMS a 26-point lead, entering the final period of play.

Everybody plays

FMS head coach Rhea Webb emptied the bench to wrap up the contest as Micah Toombs, Jasmine Runk, and Shasta Beaty all scored for the Lady Rockets in the stanza, while Eagleville scored a half dozen to cement the final score.

Curtis and Yelensky both scored eight points for the Lady Rockets, who etched a season-high 10 players with marks in the scorebook.
