The Forrest and Cornersville girls’ Cross Country teams qualified for the DI State Championships at the Percy Warner Park Steeplechase Course in Nashville on Saturday as the Lady Rockets came home in first place while the Lady Bulldogs finished in third place to punch a ticket to the state championships.

Forrest qualified as team last year as did Cornersville senior Sorrell Martin in the individual portion of the event and the Marshall County runners will hear the sound of the starting gun at 1:50 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Lady Rockets’ freshman Jaedyn Stalnecker finished 18 seconds behind Fairview frosh Alyssa Andrea in the individual portion of the event while Martin was the top finisher for the Lady Bulldogs, crossing the finish line in fifth place.

Sorrell finished 26th at the state meet last season and Zoe Long came home in 36th.

The Marshall County High School cross country teams raced at Cedars of Lebanon State Park in Lebanon and failed to qualify.
