A Lewisburg woman who resigned from her job as a city police dispatcher has filed a complaint with the Tennessee Human Rights Commission alleging she was ignored for transfer to be a patrol officer because she's a woman.
"It's just wrong," Police Chief Doug Alexander said this week when asked about Amanda Newcomb's complaint filed in late March.
A public Lewisburg City Council workshop was converted into a closed, attorney-client meeting recently and, subsequently, the complaint was revealed. Newcomb, Alexander, City Manager Eddie Fuller and other city officials have since discussed the matter.
