CORNERSVILLE — Huntland scored in the top of the first inning and padded its lead against Cornersville in the later innings in the Lady Hornets’ 6-0 win over the Lady ‘Dawgs.
It was tough sledding for the Lady ‘Dawgs on Tuesday, who were just unable crack the Huntland pitching staff.
Huntland scored a run in the top of the first and padded its lead with a three-spot in the fifth and two more in the sixth.
In total, Cornersville managed just two base hits against Huntland—a single by Anna Wood and a double by Emma Ward.
Jayli Childress got the start in the pitcher’s circle for Cornersville and went the distance for the Lady ‘Dawgs.
Despite giving up six runs on seven hits, Childress struck out seven Lady Hornet batters.
