The Forrest Lady Rockets showed some gritty resiliency Wednesday night at the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill, bouncing back from a tough loss at Moore County on Tuesday with an 8-0 shutout win versus Huntland.
"I don't know what lit a fire in them, but they decided they wanted to hit and that's good, we need more and more of that, every night," said Forrest head coach Becky Cheatham.

One-hitter
Sara Jordan tossed a one-hit gem in the circle for Forrest, giving up her only two free passes in the game and the lone base knock allowed to Michaela Clark in the first inning before shutting down the Franklin County squad the remainder of the contest to record the complete game victory.
Jordan struck out eight and only two more Huntland hitters reached base after the top of first inning, both coming on Forrest errors.
"Sara pitched a good game tonight and she also showed some great defensive effort, laying out for that ball in fourth inning," said Cheatham.
Great escape
After Jordan escaped a bases loaded, two-out jam in Huntland's initial at bat, Forrest struck for two runs in the home half of the first on RBI base knocks by Liz Daughrity and Savannah Brothers.
Jordan set down Huntland 1-2-3 in the second, and in the bottom of the inning, the Lady Rockets exploded for five more runs.
Forrest sent 10 batters to the plate in the inning with Lainey Mays driving in one run and Kiyoko Puca knocking in two more runs on a two-out, bases-loaded slap single up the gut.
Jordan held firm with the 7-0 lead as Cheatham shuffled players in and out of the lineup with 15 different Forrest players having at least one at bat in the contest.
In the top of the fourth, Katie Warrick led off with a double to center field and Jordan bumped her up one base with a grounder to short before Warrick crossed the plate with Forrest's final run on a passed ball.
At the plate
Warrick ended up with a 2-2 night, while walking once and scoring three times.
Puca drove in two runs with one hit in two plate appearances, while Brothers went 2-3 (RBI), Daughrity had a hit and an RBI, Darnell had one hit, walked once and scored a run, and Mays drove home one and scored once.
Margaret Bryan scored twice, courtesy running for Jordan, who reached base on a walk and was hit by a pitch in the second inning.
"We're improving and we have to look for those positive points," said Cheatham. "When it comes down to it, we know what counts and that is improving as we get closer to the district tournament and coming to play every night."
