EAGLEVILLE — In a backyard, non-district tussle against Eagleville on Tuesday night, the Forrest Lady Rockets struggled to match the Lady Eagles’ offensive production and took a tough on on the chin, falling 61-35.
Forrest held pace with their hosts through much of the first half, with Eagleville clinging to a five-point, 14-9 lead after the first period of play.
The Lady Eagles put five players in the scoring column in the opening period, while Forrest nearly matched the output with four scoring, highlighted by a three-pointer by Carli Warner.
The second quarter is where the game turned in heavily in favor of Eagleville, as the Lady Eagles charged to the intermission on a 17-2 run, with Forrest’s lone bucket coming courtesy of Macyn Kirby.
Eliza McLaran led the Lady Eagle charge, banking seven of her game-high 21 points in the quarter to lead Eagleville to a 31-11 lead at the half.
Forrest did pick up the steam in the second half and Kinslee Inlow got hot from the perimeter, sinking four, second-half three-pointers.
Still, Eagleville never relinquished the lead and held strong for the big victory.
Inlow was the lone Lady Rocket to reach double figures, scoring 14 points, while Kirby chipped in nine.
Forrest looks to right the ship on Friday night as the Lady Rockets host their rival to the south Cornersville at 6 p.m. in Chapel Hill.
