After a 10-1 loss to Spring Hill in the season opener, head coach Natalie Dennis' young Forrest squad has turned it on, winning four straight games with the latest victory coming in Chapel Hill on Tuesday, via a 10-0 thrashing over Huntland.
"We didn't expect this, but we just kind of rolled with it," said Dennis. "We got ahead last week against Marshall County and after halftime we almost got beat, so after that we don't quit anymore."
Forrest (4-1, 2-0) has zero seniors on the squad, but a pair of juniors and a freshman supplied the carnage versus the Lady Hornets.
Triple threat
Juniors Sarah Blasingim and Sierra Waggoner combined with frosh midfielder Brynn Colvin for a hat trick of hat tricks as they all scored three goals in the contest.
Cassie Septer came up with the 10th goal for the Lady Rockets and eighth grader Jasmine Runk slammed the door shut in goal, coming up with several nice saves to keep the Lady Hornets off the scoreboard.
After Runk came out for a sliding save early in the contest, Blasingim lit the fuse first, scoring on a left foot missile at the 30:35 mark of the first half.
Ten minutes later, Blasingim made it two-nil on another rocket shot that found the top left hand corner of the Huntland net.
Scores keep coming
Runk would make an easy save on a free kick by Madison Coombs with twelve mintues remaining in the first half to keep the shutout going.
At the 11:32 mark, Septer took a nice pass and made run up the left side before beating Huntland goalie Morgan Hensley on a low burner.
Colvin would get her first score of the game with 4:35 left in the half when she grooved a move past Huntland's defense and deposited the sphere in the back of the Hornets' net, making it 4-0 at the half.
Waggoner, who had a few scoring chances in the first half, made the Lady Hornets pay with a pair of shake and bake goals within an eight-minute timespan early in the second half, putting the Lady Rockets in front by a half dozen to nothing.
Hat tricks begin
Blasingim completed her hat trick first, drilling a laser from 20 yards out front with just over 22 minutes to play in the contest.
Forrest Defender Caitlyn Yost supplied Colvin with a pretty, long pass with 28:25 left on the game clock and Colvin took advantage of the opportunity, burying the ball behind Hensley, making it an 8-0 ballgame.
Colvin hooked came up with a perfect cross to Waggoner on the far post with 10:58 remaining on the game clock and Waggoner chipped the ball in to the twine to record her first career hat-trick.
Not to outdone by her upper classmen, Colvin notched her first hat trick with 9:17 remaining in the blowout when she muscled her way past a couple of Huntland defenders before kicking the ball past Hensley once again.
The Lady Rockets have a pair of tough home contests looming with the Community Viqueens (4-2, 0-1) on Tuesday, followed by White House Heritage (5-2-1, 2-1-1) on Oct. 1.
