CHAPEL HILL — The Forrest Lady Rockets were in prime postseason form as they opened the region tournament on Monday with a dominant 15-0 win over Whites Creek, in three innings.
Forrest needed just six hits to advance to the Region 4-AA championship, which was held on Wednesday night against backyard rival Community.
Macyn Kirby led the way, going 2-for-2 with a solo homer to lead off the game in the bottom of the first inning, while Carli Warner 2-for-2 with three RBIs to her credit.
Ella Chilton took the win from the pitcher’s circle, going two innings and striking out six.
Forrest was aided by a staggering 18 walks by Whites Creek pitching.
The Lady Rockets scored six runs in the first and second innings before reaching the 15-run rule limit in the bottom of the third by plating three more.
The win is the sixth-straight by the Lady Rockets, who are streaking at the right time of the season.
In the other region semifinal, Community crushed East Nashville, 17-0.
