With a big 67-29 win in Fayetteville Friday night, the Forrest Lady Rockets (10-4, 3-0) are off to their best start since the 2009-2010 season when they went 11-3 over 14 games.

"It's been awhile and I thought we had a chance to be there, we have been playing a bunch of young kids," said Forrest head coach Jeremy Jean. "Ten wins is good, but we have to get a couple more before the New Year and then get that one on Friday after the New Year."

The Lady Rockets were clicking on all cylinders from the opening tip, swarming to the ball, getting out on the run, and banging down some big three-pointers that set the tone.

Savannah Brothers, Hannah Evans, Hailey Collins, and Kirston Holder all went downtown in the first period, while Caitlyn Yost scored all eight of her points in the contest during the first eight minutes that ended with the Lady Rockets holding an insurmountable 28-5 lead.

"They just came out and played, tonight we were wanting to try to get that taste out of our mouth after Monday night and we had some other things happen during the week we had to get over," Jean. "Tonight they answered the bell, they played good defensively, we didn't get driven on because they had some pretty quick guards, and we took really smart shots on offense."

Forrest led 41-15 at the half and 54-23 after three periods before cruising to the holiday break in the 38-point win.

Eleven players showed up in the scoring column for Forrest with Evans leading the way with 15 points, including a trio of three-pointers.

Brothers, Yost, and Collins all scored eight apiece, Sierra Waggoner netted seven, Kyleah Hengesbach and Tamia Northcutt tallied five each, while Christa Chapman added four points, Holder had the one first period trey, and Brynn Colvin and Margaret Bryan added two markers each.

The Lady Rockets will be off until after Christmas and will be back on the court Friday night when they take on Page (2-6) in the Eagleville Christmas Tournament.

On Saturday, Forrest takes on longtime rival Cascade (3-8), who moved up to Class 2A this season and now plays their league games in District 12-AA.

"They will be games that get us back on our feet," said Jean. "I am going to give them five days off and that is the longest they have been off since I've been here. They have played good and they have earned it, so we will come back, play those two games and get ready for Community on Jan. 3."

Thompson led the Lady Tigers in the scoring column with 14 points, while Tamia Baker added a dozen, including three treys in the game.
