CHAPEL HILL — A big first half sustained the Forrest Lady Rockets Friday night, getting the 53-29 win over the Stratford Lady Spartans to advance to the Region 4-AA semifinals.
The Lady Rockets put on a show in the first frame Friday night against the Lady Spartans, led by sophomore Kinslee Inlow, who netted nine points from behind the arc.
Freshman Josie Brown entered the game early in the second quarter, picking up right where she left off in Forrest’s last game against Community, knocking down two three-pointers within the first two minutes.
Macyn Kirby and Samantha Hopkins helped cushion the Lady Rockets lead heading into the half, 35-16.
Lady Spartans Hannah Johnson came out of the gate strong in the third frame, picking up nine of her 11 points, while Forrest remained scoreless.
With 4:31 left in the quarter, Stratford trailed by 11 points.
Thanks to a trip to the foul line by Kirby and Inlow, the Lady Rockets kept their heads above water heading into the final quarter.
In the fourth, it was Inlow again picking up seven points to lead Forrest, Carli Warner and Megan Mealer lending a hand under the bucket.
Inlow led all scorers with 20 points.
The Lady Rockets will be back in action Monday night at Community High School with a matchup against East Nashville.
