Fifth-seeded Fayetteville City (4-11,1-7-1) travelled to Chapel Hill Monday night for a District 6-A Tournament quarterfinal game to face off with the fourth-seeded hosts Forrest Lady Rockets (5-6, 3-6), who steamrolled the Lady Tigers 7-1.
Forrest scored four first half goals, highlighted by sophomore Camryn Chambless’ first half hat trick as they sailed to the easy victory.
“We started off a little slow I thought, then we had some good things happen and we capitalized on their miscues and overall, I thought we played well,” Forrest coach Nichole Pickle said.

Freshman Madison Stalnecker scored a brace on a pair of penalty kicks, senior Saryna Kurtz had the first goal of the game, and eighth-grader Emerson Connell found the net for the final tally of the night.
Kurtz got the Lady Rockets rolling at the 37:13 mark of the first half, out-running the Lady Tigers’ defense as she zipped a kick into the net to put Forrest in the lead 1-0.
Less than a minute later Chambless chipped in her first of the three goals for a 2-0 Forrest lead.
Chambless struck again at the 29:06 mark, then as lightning sometimes does, struck again at the 27:17 mark of the first half for a commanding 4-0 lead.
In the space of 10 minutes, Chambless had put the Lady Rockets in the driver’s seat.
“We played overall really good and came out with the win,” Chambless said.
Stalnecker padded the lead to 5-0 on the first of her two penalty kicks with just over seven minutes to go in the first half and the Lady Rockets took the five-goal lead to the halftime break.
“We played really well, played as a team and had a good attitude toward the game and that’s why we won,” Stalnecker said.
The second half saw the Lady Rockets playing solid team defense, limiting the Fayetteville City offense before Stalnecker blasted in another penalty kick to make it 6-0.
Fayetteville City finally got on the board at 35:36 of the second half as Angel Pool fired a shot that flashed into the net to make it 6-1.
Forrest tacked on the final goal of the game when Connell nailed a penalty kick at the 31:49 mark of the second half.
Forrest took on regular season district champions Community in a semifinal game Tuesday night and going in to the game, Pickle said, “We played them really good the last time we played them, so anything is possible, any team can be beaten on any given day.”
The undefeated Viqueens (12-0) beat Forrest 7-0 and 5-2 in the regular season made it three in row when they eliminated the Lady Rockets 3-1 on Tuesday night.
Huntland (8-4-4) beat Cornersville 5-0 in the other quarterfinal game Monday night and came up with a 3-1 win on Tuesday over Cascade, which had won the last three district tournament titles.
Community and Huntland vie off for the district tournament crown Thursday night at 6 p.m. in Chapel Hill.
The Viqueens beat the Lady Hornets 7-0 and 4-1 in the regular season and have recorded eight shutouts, allowing only five goals all season.
