The Forrest Lady Rockets (12-5, 8-2) turned in their best overall effort of the season Monday at the Field of Dreams on senior night, handing Moore County (12-8, 8-1) their first district loss of the season in a 3-0 shutout win.

"That was a solid effort, I didn't feel like we made any mental or physical errors," said Forrest head coach Becky Cheatham. "It was very important to defend our home field for our seniors in their last home game and we are very proud that they made that happen."

Sara Jordan twirled a complete game, five-hit gem in the circle for Forrest, striking out four and walking two Raiderettes' hitters to earn the win.

Nine-hit effort

Forrest banged out nine hits with Katie Warrick (2-4, two doubles, two runs scored), Liz Daughrity (2-2, 2B, BB, RBI), and senior Jessica Harmon (2-3, RBI, SB) all getting a pair of hits in the contest.

Jordan (1-3, 2B, RBI), Kiyoko Puca (1-2, SB), and Lainey Mays (1-3) posted the other three base knocks for Forrest off Moore County ace Kasey Harvey.

It was a pitcher's duel from the outset as Jordan walked two in the first inning before getting out of the early jam on a nice catch by senior shortstop Mandi Conley behind the third base bag.

Neither squid made much noise at the plate until the bottom of the fourth inning when Warrick led off with a double down the right field line, but Harvey came back. getting the next two outs.

Key double

Daughrity came through in the pinch, putting the Lady Rockets out in front, drilling a double to right field that easily scored Warrick for a 1-0 Forrest lead.

Margaret Bryan came on to run for Daughrity and proceeded to cross the plate on an RBI single by Harmon.

Jordan gave up a leadoff single to Mariah Ward in the top of the fifth inning, before a pair of ground outs to Warrick at third and an inning ending strikeout squelched the threat.

Forrest wasted a one-out single and a stolen base by Puca in the home half of the frame as Harvey got out of it on a pop-up to short and fly ball to center.

In the top of the sixth, Emily Powell reached on a leadoff bunt single, but a fly ball to Puca in center and strikeout kept Powell on first base.

Errorless game

The Lady Rockets, who were errorless in the contest, threw the leather at the Raiderettes when Kelsey Darnell made a spectacular diving catch in right field foul territory to end the inning.

In the home half of the inning, Warrick and Jordan blasted back-to-back two-baggers, leading off the inning to make it a 3-0 ballgame.

Moore County was not done as Kaleigh Camp reached on an infield single to start the top of the seventh inning.

Ward beat out an infield single to put runners on first and second before Mays grabbed a foul ball near the Moore County dugout for the first out.

Conley got the second out on a 6-5 force at third and the game ended on a fly ball to Darnell in right field, keeping Forrest's hopes of winning the district title alive.

The Lady Rockets have games left versus Community and Eagleville, while Moore County takes on Cascade and MTCS in their final two district contests.

Ward had a 3-3 night for Moore County, while Powell and Kaleigh Camp had the other base hits for the Raiderettes.
