The Forrest Lady Rockets continued their early season hot streak in Chapel Hill Tuesday night, beating Summertown 55-44 for their fourth win in a row and the first over the Lady Eagles in the last six meetings.
"We have started good and we start games pretty good too," said Forrest head coach Jeremy Jean. "We come out hot with defensive intensity the last couple of games, but we have to find a way to keep that intensity the whole way through.

Tonight we let up in the fourth, I will take the blame for that because I stopped pressing in the fourth quarter, but we have to find a way to keep this start going."
Double figures
Forrest (8-3, 1-0) led by as many as 23 points in the contest before coming away with the 11-point win and the Lady Rockets had three players in doubles figures with freshman Caitlyn Yost leading the offensive with 17 points and four rebounds, plus one trey.
Hannah Evans turned in another solid performance with 14 points, including one three-pointer and hauled down four rebounds, while Evans' junior classmate Savannah Brothers had 10 points, including a pair of long bombs.
Jean also received a big boost from junior Sierra Waggoner, who scored 9 points, went 3-4 from the free throw line and grabbed a team high six rebounds in the contest.
Few second chances
"They didn't get many second shots and that is something we talked about in practice, we have to do that because we are too small to give up second chances," said Jean. "Tonight, they all did a good job on the boards and there were times where all five of them were blocking out."
Summertown's Alissa Hunter opened up the scoring in the game with a rebound and put-back and that would be only time the Lady Eagles would lead the remainder of the contest.
Yost hit a jumper for the Lady Rockets and Brothers would nail a trey moments later, putting Forrest in front before Hunter hit one of two from the free throw line.
Evans and Hunter would trade baskets, making it 9-5 before Waggoner scored four points in a row.
Yost ended the first quarter with one made free throw and drained a three-pointer to begin the second quarter, giving the hometown girls a 10-point lead at 15-5.
Big lead
Brothers made two free throws with 5:42 remaining in the first half and Yost followed moments later with a pull-up jumper, extending the Forrest lead to 19-7.
Summertown's Kenzi Kilburn sandwiched a three-point play in the paint and a long-range three around baskets by Yost and Evans before a single charity toss by Sara Beth Smith made it a 25-14 contest in favor of Forrest at the halftime break.
Waggoner scored to open up the third quarter and Brothers followed with a deep three before Kilburn came up with another trey.
From there, Forrest stepped on the gas, sparked on the defensive end on consecutive steals by Kirston Holder and Yost that turned into fast break buckets at the other end, extending the FHS lead to 39-24.
Scoring streak
Evans added insult to injury when she scored seven straight points, including a sizzling three-pointer from the top of the key and a bruising bucket in the lane.
Kilburn ended the misery for the Lady Eagles with a basket to end the third quarter with Forrest leading 47-26.
In the fourth period, Summertown came back as Jean began to sub more liberally and backed off on the press.
Jean stuck with the plan as Summertown (4-3) outscored Forrest 18-8 in the period, but it was not nearly enough as the Lady Rockets took the victory.
Kilburn led all scorers in the game with 18 points and Reagan Hannah put up 10 points, while Hunter finished with nine for the Lady Eagles and Mary Long netted four points, Lori Long added 2, and Smith had the one free throw.
The two teams will meet again in Summertown on Jan. 4.
Big challenge
Holder ended up with four points and Kyleah Hengesbach added one point and 4 rebounds for the Lady Rockets, who travel to Lynchburg on Friday for a meeting with the defending District 9A champion Moore County Raiderettes (7-3, 1-1).
"That is going to be a tough test and I reminded them of last year when we went over there and they beat us by 40 and pressed the whole entire game and they embarrassed us and did it on purpose," said Jean. "So, I am challenging them as a person of what we are going to do about it."
