The LMS Tigerettes (7-3) completed the series sweep over Forrest Middle School (3-7) Friday in Chapel Hill with a 13-8 win and in the process, secured first place, going into the conference tournament, beginning this Friday at Reese Hambrick Field in Lewisburg.
Lewisburg brought out the lumber, banging out 11 hits in the ballgame, including the big blow coming off the bat of Katie Crabtree, who blasted a three-run homerun over the right field fence in the fourth inning.
"I have not been hitting real good lately and wanted to get a hit there," said Crabtree after the game. "I just got a pitch and hit it out. I was real nervous because I thought it was foul when it was in the air. It was real nice."
The homerun was Crabtree's first ever long knock in an organized game.
