Mrs. Lillian Hawkins Britt, 90, of Chapel Hill, TN, died Thursday evening, May 26, 2022, at her home after an extended illness. Mrs. Lillian was born in Marshall County and was a daughter of the late James Fisher Hawkins and Ruth Elizabeth Ferguson Sinclair. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Keith “Chuck” Britt, who died in 2013, and son-in-law, Stevie Holton, who died in February of 2022.
Mrs. Britt was a homemaker, and for 35 years, owner and operator of Lillians’ Beauty Shop in the Holts Corner Community. Over the years, she also was the owner of the Parkview Restaurant, Mels Diner and the Oasis Restaurant. Mrs. Britt was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Chapel Hill.
She is survived by her children, Sheila (Eddy) Harber, Chapel Hill, TN, Sharon Holton, Chapel Hill, TN, David (Dottie) Ghee, Franklin, TN, Kristin (Ray) Ghee, Chapel Hill, TN; grandchildren, Sherry (Leo) Strasser, Tommy (Karla) Harber, Lori (Shannon) Curtis, Keith (Lori) Harber, Robin (Randy) Hollingsworth, Dave (Mandy) Holton, Bailee (Preston) Mathis, Katie Ghee, Fred Penick (Christie Rowdon), Preston McDonald, Brian Osborne, Jermiah Dodson, Luke Dodson; great-grandchildren, Ross (Bernadette) Strasser, Sydney Strasser (Evan Hayes), Layne Strasser, Reed Strasser, Jonathan (Braylin) Harber, Brandon Harber, Cannon Curtis, Madison Curtis, Keaton Curtis, Sadie Harber, Lucas Harber, Logan (Delanie) Hollingsworth, Laiken (Jake) Zimmerlee, Hayleigh Hollingsworth, Luke Holton, Carson Holton (Austin Criswell), Lileana Amis; great-great-grandchildren, Peter Strasser, Simon Strasser, Rosette Strasser, Britt Criswell.
Family members received friends on Saturday, May 28, 2022, from 4 until 8 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, 2022, from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Tim McGehee and Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Burial followed in Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill.
Tommy Harber, Keith Harber, Leo Strasser, Shannon Curtis, Dave Holton, Randy Hollingsworth, Fred Penick, Preston McDonald, Bryan Osborne, Luke Dodson and Jeremiah Dodson served as pallbearers.
The family of Mrs. Britt would like to give a special thanks to Angela Thompson and the staff of Caris Healthcare for their kind and compassionate care during her illness.
