Nearly 11 percent of Marshall County's 12,280 workforce was without a job during October, according to state figures released last week.
The county's October 10.9 percent unemployment rate is two tenths of a percent higher than its 10.7 percent unemployment rate in September.
Figures from Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development were released on the afternoon of Nov. 21. There were 1,340 unemployed and 10,940 working county residents.
Unemployment here went from 12.2 percent in July to 11.5 percent in August.
Nearby, unemployment figures for October show:
* No change in Bedford County from September to October when the rate was steady at 8.7 percent;
* A slight increase in Giles County from 8.8 percent in September to 9 percent in October;
* No change in Maury County, where the rate remained 8.9 percent during September and October; and,
* Lincoln County continues to have a remarkably low unemployment rate. It went down from 5.2 percent in September to 5.1 percent in October, the lowest in the state.
Tennessee's highest county unemployment rate was 16.4 percent in Scott County.
The state rate went down in October while the national rate went up. The change was just a tenth of one percent for each. Nationally it was 7.9 percent while it was 8.2 percent according to seasonally adjusted figures.
