Marshall County fce recognizes Veterans

This community service project for the Marshall County fce began in February when the clubs in the county met for their annual Bake-off event. All three clubs in the county had representatives present and each member was given a chance to color a patriotic square. A total of 35 squares were colored, with the idea of making patriotic lap quilts for veterans. It just happened that three members of the Forever Young Club that meets at Oakwood are veterans. The squares were prepped and then assembled into lap quilts along with a square that thanked them for their service.

On Tuesday, July 9, at the beginning of their monthly fce meeting, the quilts were presented to these special veterans. Receiving lap quilts were: Tommy Burns, a ten year veteran of the Air Force; Harvoline Duprey, who served in the Nurses Cadet Corps; and Billy Mount, a five and one half year veteran of the Army.
