The Marshall County 8U all-stars fought their way out of the loser’s bracket to face Giles County on Monday night and with a win, the chance to take home the district championship heading into the state tournament.

The Marshall County 8U all-stars fought their way out of the loser’s bracket to face Giles County on Monday night and with a win, the chance to take home the district championship heading into the state tournament.
And while the history books are full of epic Marshall-Giles showdowns, Monday night did not add to those pages as Marshall County scored 14 first inning runs to win by a 15-0 margin after just three innings to force a winner takes all contest later in the evening.
Jon Hightower and Ethan Harris started the game strong with singles before Branham Hayes added a double to score the game’s first run and open the Marshall County scoring floodgates.
Carson Henderson and Jack Carlisle came up with RBI singles before Colyn Schilling and ZeShawn Swaggerty each dropped doubles to push the lead to 6-0 before Giles recorded the first out.
Garrett Schilling followed the out with an RBI single for a 7-0 advantage before Logan Heller added an RBI double.
Giles County remained under fire as eight of the first nine Marshall County batters tallied at least a base hit before the top of the Marshall County order took the plate once again with just one down.
The outcome remained the same as Hightower, Harris, and Haynes all provided RBI knocks to push the score to 12-0.
Henderson and Carlisle continued the onslaught and by the time Schilling added an RBI single for the eighth hit in a row, the score was 14-0.
Giles County mustered a tiny threat in the bottom of the first inning with Cason Howard advancing to third base with two outs, but Demarie Holt was called out on a ground ball to first base with no harm done.
Marshall County padded the final outcome with a John King run in the third inning to push the lead to 15-0 and the Pulaski bats came up empty in the remaining frames as Marshall County forced a title tilt with relative ease and a fist full of confidence as the final game took place on Marshall's home turf just 30 minutes following the 15 run romp.
