Davin Miles tossed a three-hit complete game to pick up a 4-2 win on the mound for Marshall Medical Center over Nichirin in the Babe Ruth League finale Monday night at the Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Memorial Field in Lewisburg.

Miles did not surrender an earned run while striking out five and walking three Nichirin batters.

Miles also went 1-for-2 at the dish and drove in one and scored one run for MMC, who scored two third inning runs to seize the lead for good in the contest.

Ashton Grubbs turned in a 2-for-3 performance at the dish, scoring one run and stealing two bases.

MMC had a huge game on the base paths, stealing 10 bags with Brock Rowland and Cova Rowland swiping two apiece while Riley Durbin, Austin Kelley, Miles, and Caden Mills all had one theft each.

The Rowland brothers also had one hit apiece in the contest as did Durbin (RS, RBI) and Hay (2B, RBI).

James Hery, Ballin Luttrell, and Reid Mitchell all had one base knock apiece for Nichirin.

Rob Hawkins pitched well, tossing 3.1 innings and giving up three earned runs on four hits before Luttrell came on to finish up the game on the hill for Nichirin.

Nichirin opened the scoring with an unearned run in the bottom of the second inning before MMC came up with a pair of runs in the top of third.

Hay got things going with a one-out double and Miles followed with an RBI single.

Miles stole second and went to third on a wild pitch before scoring on a Durbin fielder’s choice RBI to make it 2-1.

Lucas Hery walked to lead off the bottom of the inning and James Hery singled to center field, but both runners were left stranded as Miles set down the next three Nichirin batters in order to end the inning.

MMC made it a 3-1 ballgame via a sacrifice fly RBI by Hay in the top of the fourth inning and Miles set down Nichirin 1-2-3 in the home half of the frame.

MMC added its final run of the game in top of the fifth inning via an unearned run.

Jackson Rogers walked to lead off the home half of the stanza and stole second base before coming around to score to make it 4-2 on an MMC error.

Luttrell did not allow a run in the top of the sixth and Miles finished the game in style, striking out the side in order in the bottom of the sixth to end the game.

After the first game, the Elks and A-Plus played to a 3-3 tie before the game was called to start the closing ceremonies.
