On Tuesday, Bobcats traveled down from the Music City into Chapel Hill to take on the hometown Mudcats for a double-header in a Field and Stream matchup that ended with John Overton High School sweeping the Forrest baseball summer squad.

The Middle Tennessee Mudcats' bats were silent for most of the night, managing just 9 hits in the 2-1, 6-4 twin bill setback.

Game 1

In game one, Bobcat hurler Gideon Moore struck out 10 Mudcats and had a no-hitter through 5 2/3 innings, before Caleb Keller broke up the no-no with base hit up the middle.

Gideon would give up just one more hit the rest of the way and the Bobcats gave Gideon all the support he would need in the top of the first inning as L.A. Woodard singled to lead off the contest and came around to score on an RBI triple by Max Crow.

Forrest starter Logan Hollingsworth retired the next two Bobcats before Crow flew home on a passed ball to make it 2-0.

Hollingsworth would pitch scoreless ball the remainder of game, ending with three strikeouts and one base on balls in the six-hit loss.

The Mudcats' lone tally came in the bottom of the seventh inning as Jacob Daughrity reached second base on a one-out error and two batters later, Alex Brewer traded places with Daughrity, making it 2-1.

Gideon got a fly ball out to Alex Hall in center to end the contest and earn the complete game win.

Woodard (2-4, RS) and Crow (2-3, RS, RBI) had two hits apiece in the game for Overton, while Trey Hatcher (1-3) and Tate Douthit (1-2, 2B) had one base hit apiece.

Game 2

In game two, the Mudcats fell behind early once again as Overton took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on RBI base knock by Evan Davis.

The Bobcats added three more runs in the third inning, knocking Forrest starter Landon Jones from the mound.

Jones left the game in favor of Ryan Byrd with runners on first and third with one out when Drew Crawford knocked in run number two for Overton before Yosvany Penate and Jose Solen followed with back-to-back ribbies, making it a four-zip contest.

Austin Welty got things going offensively for the Mudcats to begin the home half of the third inning, beating out a bunt single and stealing second base.

Jacob Jones followed with triple into the right/center field gap, scoring Welty and Jesse Pruitt knocked in Jones with a fielder's choice RBI, cutting the Bobcats' lead in half at 4-2.

There was no scoring in the fourth inning, but in the top of the fifth, a sac fly RBI by Crawford, followed by a fielder's choice ribbie by Penate made it 6-2.

Jones beat out a bunt to start the bottom of the inning before Overton starter Hunter Long retired the next two Forrest batters on groundouts to second base.

Kennedy Mathis knocked in Jones, making it 6-3 and Mathis took second on a balk by Long before Byrd drove in Mathis with an RBI base hit to center.

Long got out the jam on a grounder to short and in the top of the sixth, Pruitt came to the hill and struck out three out of the four batters he faced in the inning.

A Welty one out double, followed by a hit batsman sent Bobcat head coach Mike Morrison to the mound where he inserted Maclin West, who finished off the Mudcats to earn the save.

Welty (2-4, RS, SB), Jacob Jones (2-3, 2RS, RBI), and Byrd (2-2, HBP, RBI) all had two hits for the Mudcats, while Mathis (1-2, RS) had the other base knock.
