The old sign on the front of Parsons Pharmacy is gone, soon to be replaced by a smaller one, to go along with other improvements to the historic building's facade.
Owner Gene Douglas Parsons explained the new sign will be 10 feet long, black with white letters. There will be all new windows. The entrance door was replaced this winter, but rain and cold put a stop to work. Now the work continues, and master mason Pete Masterson will be filling in the facade with rock, to match the lefthand side of the building.
"We've been planning this for a year," said Parsons, who estimated the work will take three weeks to finish. Contractor Freddy Stacey and Rambo Glass are working on the project.
"This is my building and it needs to be preserved," said Parsons, treasurer of the Lewisburg Downtown Alliance.
"I want the town to be good," she said, and fixing up her building at her own expense is a way to make this happen.
