Marshall County High School and Forrest are looking for bounce back wins tonight, while the undefeated Cornersville Bulldogs try to make it six wins in row.

The Marshall County Tigers (1-3, 1-2) host the 3A Pearl Cohn Firebirds tonight at Preston Hopkins Field in Lewisburg in a non-region matchup with the MCHS needing a win to bust a two-game losing streak, including a tough 28-14 loss to sixth-ranked Maplewood last week at home.

Number eight ranked Pearl Cohn (3-2, 1-0) came away with a close 28-24 win last year in Nashville and are coming off a 42-14 blowout win over Cookeville last week in Nashville.

The game will be the third in a four-game home stretch for the Tigers that ends next week when they take on Region 4-4A foe Lawrence County before embarking on a season ending stretch that sees Marshall County on the road for three out of their last four games

After the Lawrence County game, the Tigers travel to Pulaski for a non-region battle with archrival Giles County.

In the final three weeks, MCHS plays at Spring Hill, hosts Brentwood, and finishes the 2018 campaign with a road trip to Nolensville.

The Forrest Rockets (2-3, 1-2) are looking for a homecoming boost when they host fifth-ranked Watertown (5-0, 2-0) tonight at the Murrey E. Holton Memorial Field in Chapel Hill.

The Rockets got grounded last week via a 38-0 shutout loss to second-ranked Columbia Academy and are looking to avenge an 8-7 loss last year on the road to the Purple Tigers.

This will be the last home game for the Rockets for a while as they travel to Lewis County and Loretto in back-to back weeks before getting their bye week on October 12.

The Rockets finish the season with a pair of home games versus longtime rival Cascade in a non-region tussle before finishing up the regular season when they host the Community on October 26.

The 2017 Class A state runner-up Cornersville Bulldogs (5-0, 3-0) are playing flawless football, posting four consecutive shutouts and are likely to make it five in a row this week when they travel to winless Perry County in a Region 5-A matchup.

The Bulldogs have won 10 region games in a row with their last league loss coming at Fayetteville on October 21, 2016.

Cornersville’s goal this season is simple, go undefeated and win the state title at Cookeville.

The last Marshall County football squad to go undefeated was the Bob Edens’ coached Marshall County Tigers, who went unblemished at 14-0 to win the Class-AA state football title in 1984.

After the trip to Linden this week, the Bulldogs host Fayetteville and travel to Richland before a bye week on October 12.

Cornersville’s final game of the season is at Frog Bottom versus Huntland on October 19.

The game that was scheduled in the last week of the regular season versus Lancaster Christian Academy was cancelled, leaving the Bulldogs with a nine-game regular season schedule.
