BELL BUCKLE — After falling to Cascade in the region championship, Forrest got a familiar opponent in the elimination game, with the winner advancing to the Class 2A state sectional.
The Rockets got back to their grove of hammering the baseball and relying on steady pitching as Forrest booted East Nashville with their second win over the Eagles in the tournament, 14-2
Carter Walk tossed a gem on the mound for Forrest, pitching a complete game, while allowing just two runs on five hits.
He also struck out 12 batters.
Preston Gentry was the RBI machine for the Rockets. He went 2-for-5 and drove in three runs, while four additional players for Forrest recorded two RBIs apiece.
Tyler Baxter, Ryan Meglis, Austin Dillon and Branham Haynes each knocked in a pair of runs in the Rockets’ dominant win over East.
Forrest relied on a five-run sixth inning and a four-run seventh to really break the game open and send the Rockets to the Class 2A sectional.
The sectional will be held on Wednesday afternoon at Sequatchie County.
