CHAPEL HILL — The Forrest Rockets further strengthened their stranglehold on the District 7-AA lead on Monday night, crushing Grundy County, 11-1.
Senior Riley Durbin turned in another gem on the mound for the Rockets, pitching a complete game and allowing just one unearned run in the fourth inning against two hits, while striking out six.
The Forrest battery backed Durbin’s stellar night on the mound and scored at least two runs in every inning except the fourth.
Kason Fuller put Forrest on the board with a RBI double in the first and Carter Walk followed when he drove in a run while grounding out to third.
Forrest kept the offense working in the second inning with a RBI single by Preston Gentry.
Kason Fuller padded the lead by clearing the bases with a three RBI double to deep center-left, giving the Rockets a 6-0 lead by the end of the second.
The Rockets tacked on two more in the third inning, the first of which came on a RBI single by Branham Haynes, who later scored on a Grundy County error.
The Yellow Jackets got one back in the top of the fourth inning, following a lead off walk.
A RBI single three batters later gave the Yellow Jackets their first and only run of the game.
Forrest was the beneficiary of four walks in the fifth inning, including back-to-back bases-loaded walks by Carter Walk and Fuller.
Luke Allen drove in the 11th run of the game for Forrest on a single to left, scoring Noah Helmick for the 10-run rule limit.
Fuller was the top producer of the night for Forrest, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and five RBIs to his credit.
Gentry also went 2-for-3 with a RBI as well.

COALMONT — Twenty-one hits. Eighteen runs. Virtually everything that could have gone right for the Forrest Rockets on Tuesday at Grundy County, did.
The Rockets had their way with the Yellow Jackets and crushed Grundy County in an 18-4 win.
Austin Dillon led the way with a 3-for-4 night and drove in four runs to lead the Rocket offense.
Tyler Baxter also had a three-hit night, while four additional players connected on two hits in the Rockets win.
Carter Walk went 4-for-4 with an RBI as well.
The game was relatively close through the first several innings, with Forrest falling behind, 3-2, following a pair of runs in the bottom of the third.
Preston Gentry tied the game in the fourth with a RBI single—and then the Rockets erupted.
Forrest led off the five-run fifth inning with six singles and a walk, but the biggest inning came with a 10-run sixth to put the game well-beyond reach for Forrest.
While the offense was generating plenty of buzz at the plate, Luke Allen pitched well for Forrest, going the distance and giving up just four runs on five hits, while striking out eight.
