The Forrest Rockets (8-1) suffered their first defeat of the season on the mat to a powerful Beech (7-2) squad Thursday at a Harpeth quad meet, but bounced back with a pair of wins over the host Indians and Clarksville Northeast.

"This was our first quad match of the year in which we wrestle three different schools," said Forrest head coach Kyle Stacey. "Beech overwhelmed us with their aggressive, but simple technique."

Loss to Beech

The Rockets lost 65-18 to Beech as the Buccaneers won all but three matches from Forrest as Ivan Wentzel pinned Damon Wilson in the 152-pound weight class, Jamie Boyce pinned Jordan Claybrook at 182, and Tyler McClendon pinned Joseph Johnson in the 220-pound division.

"Beech has a very good wrestling team, but we just can't wrestle the big schools with the attitude of not getting beat," said Stacey. "We have to walk onto the mat, regardless of who our opponent is; with the attitude of I'm going to win."

Win over Harpeth

The Rockets bounced back with a tough win over the host Indians, but fell behind 18-0 early as Bryton Spitzley, Joseph Williams, and Austin Geeting all fell by pins.

Wentzel came up with a big pin over Jeremiah Ward at 152 and Jerry Jordan followed suit, pinning Caleb Coltrane in the 160-pound weight class.

In the last actual bout of the match, Harpeth's Kaylob Harper (170) pinned Tanner Kerr.

Forrest would take home the win via eight consecutive forfeit wins by Boyce (182), McClendon (190), Bryan Clanton 220), Nikolas McGuiggan (285), Dante Duncan (106), Dylan Pendley (113), Cokey Hamatain (120), and Nick Tahmassebi at 126 pounds.

Win over Northeast

The Rockets made two in a row with a tough win over Clarksville Northeast, taking a 54-27 triumph over the Eagles (1-3).

"I was proud of the way we bounced back for the other two matches, but I still felt we did not wrestle to our potential," said Stacey. "We must continue to improve and get better each day."

Forrest fell behind 6-0 as Delrico Bowen pinned Williams to begin the match before a pair of forfeit wins by Geeting and Wentzel gave the Rockets a 12-6 lead.

In the 160-pound weight class, Northeast's Dominico Bowen won a close 12-9 decision over Jerry Jordan, before the Eagles took the lead on a Jason Williamson pin over Kerr.

Boyce and Bryan Clanton picked up forfeit wins for the Rockets and McClendon took down Andrew McDaniel in a mere 40 seconds to give Forrest a 30-15 lead.

Eagle 185-pounder Dustin Beard pinned McGuiggan, but Duncan picked up six points for the Rockets via forfeit and Dylan Pendley pinned John Cook at 113 pounds.

Hamatain won by forfeit for Forrest at 120, Tahmassebi pinned Deqwendrick Whiters in the 132-pound weight class, and Jaeden Medrano pinned Spitzley in the final bout of the match.

"We should have everyone in their proper weight class by the first of the year," said Stacey. "Our leaders are starting to emerge in Cage Hargrove, Tyler McClendon, and Jamie Boyce, all of whom are undefeated at this point."
