Marshall County High School junior Abylene Self became the second woman bowler to qualify for the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association’s state tournament when she garnered an automatic spot, winning the District 8 Tournament at the Tenn Pin Bowling Alley in Columbia on December 16.

Self is currently the sixth-ranked bowler in the state with a 195.75 average and will embark on her quest to capture a state title at the Smyrna Bowling Center on January 23.

Ashley Hunt was the first woman to qualify from MCHS in 2011 and finished in 17th place at Smyrna.

The only two boys state bowling tournament participants from Marshall County were Anthony Walker, who finished in 21st place in 2010, and Austin Hunt came home in 16th place in 2013.
