Hitting attack

Summertown blistered the ball the entire contest and pounded out 17 hits overall to go along with a walk and four Lady Bulldog errors.

Starting pitcher Megan Kilburn swung the biggest stick for the Lady Eagles and went 3-for-4 with two homeruns, 4 RBI, and four runs scored. Alissa Hunter also went 3-for-4 with a homerun, 2 RBI, and two runs scored, while Jessie Riddle (2 RBI), Megan Evans (2 RBI), Morgan Long (1 RBI), and Natalie Davis notched two hits apiece. Raegan Hannah (1 RBI), Paige Hunter, and Lori Long each had one hit for Summertown as well.

Cornersville, meanwhile, never got their bats going, as Kilburn tossed a no-hitter while issuing two walks and recording four strikeouts.

Break's effect

"The break did hurt us. We had a week off and had a lot of kids out of town so we didn't got a lot done in practice. Give Summertown credit, they outhit us and outplayed us. I'm glad we got this out of our system before we start the rest of our District games," said CHS coach Eric Crabtree. "We've got to have a quarterback's mentality about this game and flush it out of our memory."

Miranda Cooksey and Breanne both drew walks for Cornersville.. Lady Bulldog starting pitcher Taylor Wolaver went the distance in the circle and suffered her second loss of the season.
