The investigation into an incident where shots were fired in a parking lot at the Lewisburg Rec Center has reached a dead end according to the Lewisburg Police Department.
The incident occurred on the evening of Thursday, January 5.
When police responded to the call, they found two male subjects with a vehicle with two flat tires.
The victims reported that they had gotten into an altercation or disagreement with two other men, who had produced a gun.
They fired an unknown number of shots at the pair, resulting in the flattening of the tires on their vehicle.
The two have been unable to identify or even give police descriptions of either assailant. After talking with the two, detectives still do not have a complete picture of what occurred or what led up to the disagreement.
Lewisburg Police Chief David Henley stressed that the incident was not a random event and that the pair seemed to be specifically targeted. There was no connection with the Rec Center at all for the incident and he felt it could have been any other parking lot in town.
Parks and Recreation Director Cary Whitesell said that, despite happening on Rec Center property, the incident was far enough away from the building that no one in the center at the time was even aware of the incident until notified by police.
