The Marshall County Tigerettes had their backs against the wall entering last night's game versus Giles County, winning the District 12-AA opener 6-2 at Lewisburg Friday night before suffering a tough 4-2 loss at Page on Monday.
"The Tigerettes are fighters, we have a lot of school pride and competitive girls," MCHS coach Heather Denton said. "They are ready to play and want to win. Now we get to play every day and every team in the district to prove that we deserve to be in the championship."

The Marshall County Tigerettes had their backs against the wall entering last night's game versus Giles County, winning the District 12-AA opener 6-2 at Lewisburg Friday night before suffering a tough 4-2 loss at Page on Monday.

The Tigerettes did everything right Friday night at Reese Hambrick Field versus CPA, banging out 11 hits in the contest with Allison Sheroski, Ali Hobbs, Taylor Walls and Kathryn Donahue all having two hits apiece.
"The girls played well, we hit the ball when runners were in scoring position," Denton said. "It was a great win for our team to start the district tournament."
Brooklin Conger was solid in the circle, going the distance to pick up the win in a seven-hit effort that included four strikeouts and one base on balls.
"Once she settled down and kept the ball low and let her defense work, she was good to go," said Denton.
In front
An Ali Hobbs RBI single in the bottom of the first inning gave MCHS a 1-0 lead before CPA scored twice in the top of the second to grab a one-run lead.
Freshman Savannah Wooten tied the game at 2-2 with an RBI base knock in the bottom of the second and Conger held the Lady Lions scoreless in the third.
Allison Sheroski led off the bottom of the third inning with a bunt single and stole second before scoring the eventual game winner on a Sydne Solomon RBI single.
Two outs later, Taylor Walls came up with a huge base hit, making it 4-2.
In control
Conger held firm the rest of the way, backed up by some sparkling defense by the Tigerettes and in the bottom of the fifth inning, MCHS came up with a pair of insurances runs on another RBI base knock by Walls and an error on CPA.
"I thought Emily played lights out catching and Sydne at third base and Leah at shortstop, phenomenal defense, I'm proud of them," Denton said.
Conger took the 6-2 lead to the last inning where she gave up a leadoff single before a groundout to Solomon at third base, a strikeout and runner's interference ended the game.

It was a different story on Tuesday at Page as the Tigerettes had eight hits versus the Lady Patriots, but only scored two runs in the 4-2 setback.
"We had eight hits, but we did not hit when we were in scoring position and left the bases loaded and runners at second and third several times," Denton said. "We have to score when we have a runner at third with less than two outs. Page only had one more hit than us, but they hit when they needed to most of the game."
Solomon and Hannah Sheppard had two hits apiece at Rudderville, while Sheroski, Hobbs, Walls and Emily Martin all came up with one base knock each.
Falling behind
The Tigerettes did not score in the first inning, but Page came up with two runs in the bottom of the inning on a Savannah Rosevear-Goetsch sacrifice fly and a fielder's choice RBI by Jenna Johnson, who had three RBI in the game for Page.
There was no scoring until the top of the fifth inning when MCHS came back to tie the game at 2-2 on a Hobbs RBI single and an error on the Lady Pats.
Page was undaunted as they came up with the final two runs of the game on a Johnson two-run double in the home half of the fifth inning.
No more runs
Page hurler Kacie Scott kept the Tigerettes off the scoreboard the rest of the way to pick up the win, while Marlee Woodard suffered the loss in a solid effort in the circle for Marshall County.
The Tigerettes had beaten Giles County three times this season going into Tuesday night's win or go home game at Lewisburg.
