After winning four straight games, the Forrest Lady Rockets were sky-high coming in to Tuesday night's home game versus Community, but an early barrage of Viqueen goals set the tone in a 5-0 loss to the Unionville squad

"I think that Community has a great program," said FHS head coach Natalie Dennis. "My girls knew that going into the game and I think we let them get into our heads and get us off of our game.

Too intense?

Forrest, who was also shutout last season 9-0 by the Viqueens were hoping to win the contest and break out on top of the South Division in District 9A/AA.

"I feel coming in we wanted the district win just as much as Community," said Dennis. "Maybe, we wanted it too much."

The Viqueens, who have seven seniors on the current squad, showed their experience early in the game, keeping pressure in the Forrest end until Courtney Williams found the back of the net at the 26:45 mark to open the scoring.

Sarah Blasingim had a couple of chances to tie the game moments later, but could not get enough space around the tough Community defense to get off a quality shot.

Williams scores

With 20:15 remaining in the first half, Jordan Huntley scored to make it two-nil, putting even more pressure on the senior-less Lady Rockets.

"The Community's girls have played together for many years and they have a middle school team which allows them to be better prepared," said Dennis.

Williams would score again for the Viqueens at the 10:55 mark of the first half before the Lady Rockets finally got some real pressure going on the offensive end that resulted in a free kick by Cassie Septer with 7:19 left in the half, but the kick sailed wide.

Williams secured her hat trick with just over three minutes to play in the first half, making it 4-0.

"I tried to tell my girls before the game not to get down when Community scored," said Dennis. "We know they are a good scoring team and they also have a deep bench, something we do not have this year."

The Lady Rockets seemed to settle down for half number two and began to get some runs in the Community end, but a Carlie Molnar goal made it 5-0 with 28:10 remaining in the contest.

Improvement

Forrest played much better during the second half, but could not get a clear scoring opportunity.

Brynn Colvin made several nice runs, as did Blasingim, Septer, and Sierra Waggoner, but the experienced Community defense held them at bay the rest of the way in the shutout win.

The Lady Rockets will be tested again on Tuesday as the South Division leading White House Heritage Lady Patriots (9-2-1) invade Chapel Hill in a 6 p.m. showdown.

"I hope the girls come to play next week, we need the win to put us in a better place in the district tournament," said Dennis.

The Lady Pats are coming off a 4-0 weekend in which they claimed the Robertson County Cup, winning 4-3 over Springfield in the title game.

"We don't know much about White House Heritage, other than we have heard they are a good program," said Dennis. "But, I think anyone can win on any given day and I hope Tuesday is our day."
