Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, from the chapel of London Funeral Home with burial to follow in Old Orchard Cemetery at Petersburg.

The family of R.C. Gambill, 89, of Petersburg, will be at London Funeral Home from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, for visitation.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, from the chapel of London Funeral Home with burial to follow in Old Orchard Cemetery at Petersburg.
Mr. Gambill died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, in Marshall Medical Center.
He was a native of Marshall County, and son of the late Ed Gambill and Ethel Blackwell Gambill. He served his country in the U.S. Army in the 49th AAA Automatic Weapons Battalion during World War II. Mr. Gambill was a lifelong farmer and retired from the maintenance department of Eaton Corporation in Shelbyville. He was well known by many for his love of family and a work ethic that most men could not keep up with. He was a man who was always willing to help anyone in need.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Mauldin Gambill; son, Jerald Gambill; and sister, Dorothy Hilliard.
He is survived by a son, Randy Gambill of Petersburg; daughter, Janice Young of Culleoka; eight grandchildren, Roxanne Cook, Paul Baxter, John Polly, Anthony Polly, Tina Moore, Randall Gambill, LaShawn Hanntz, and Sherry Chapman; seven great-grandchildren, Amber Nichols, Candace McElyea, Candice Rowland, Travis Rowland, Ethan Gambill, Landon Gambill, and Austin Hanntz; and one great-great-grandchild, Carabeth Rowland.
