Tennessee State Parks wants you to vote for your favorite park and support them at the same time.

Through the end of January, the State Parks are hosting My TN State Park 2022, where one dollar equals one vote for the best of the state’s 56 parks.

“If you’ve ever been to Horton,” said Ranger Shaun Rainone, “here’s a chance to say why you love it.”

Halfway through the month, Henry Horton is in 9th place among parks which host between 350,000 and 700,000 visitors annually.

Voting will be open until 11:59 p.m. on January 31.

Voting can be done online at https://tnstateparks.com/donate or donations can be made in person at any point of sale location in the park.

The park receives 100% of the proceeds from the event and contributions are tax deductable.

Proceeds from this year’s competition are earmarked for expanding capabilities at Horton’s aviaries.

The project is tiered, with plans to build the secondary entrance room for the aviary, a bird privacy area, and a treatment space for basic care for the birds, depending on the number of votes, and dollars, received.

Last year marked the first year of the competition, raising more than $96,000 among the state’s 56 state parks.

Last year, Horton finished 22nd with $1,383 raised.

Tennessee is one of seven states that provide free access to state parks.
