The Marshall County Wrestling Club (MCWC) competed in two big exposures tournament recently, beginning with the Clarkesville Top 100 Tournament that featured wrestlers from throughout the state.

Points are awarded throughout the season in many separate statewide competitions to determine the best wrestlers in all the various weight classes.

Many of the MCWC members travel around the state competing with the best the state has to offer as well as competing against wrestlers from Alabama, Georgia, Ohio, and many other states from across the nation, using the Top 100 format to prepare it's wrestlers for both state and national competitions later in the season.

Wes McCoy and Liam Bell secured second place honors, while Eli Bell and Seth McCoy each placed third in Clarksville.

Dixie Nationals

Last weekend, the MCWC stepped up to the national stage at the Dixie Nationals Wrestling Tournament in Atlanta, Georgia.

Wes McCoy, Nick McClendon, and Seth McCoy were just of the few of the MCWC grapplers to take part in the event that featured 873 wrestlers from 30 states.

Seth McCoy finished in fifth place and Wes McCoy earned a sixth place finish in the national spotlight, earning All-American honors in the process.

"Our wrestlers beat some of the best guys in the country, that is a great achievement," said MCWC founder Chris Posey.
