Billy Joe Pope, 83, of Lewisburg, died Thursday, June 27, 2019, at his home.

Mr. Pope was a native of Giles County, the son of the late Joe and Lessie Broadway Pope. He was Road Superintendent for the Marshall County Highway Department for 27 years, a member of East Commerce Baptist Church, and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou Birdsong and a brother, Bobby Pope.

He is survived by wife of 50 years, Edith Tucker Pope; two daughters, Tonga (Frankie) Dalton of Cornersville, and Trina (Douglas) Heffington of Murfreesboro; one son, Barry Pope of Lewisburg; two sisters, Joyce Pope of Pulaski, Mary Ellen Cruger of Illinois; two brothers, eight grandchildren, Wesley (Mary Beth) Neece, Laura Neece, Brittany (Jimmy) Scott, Adam (Fonda) Ray, Emma and Jay Heffington, Jeremy Pope, Meagan Pope, and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at 10 a.m. from London Funeral Home and Crematory with burial to follow in Lone Oak Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will begin on Friday, June 28, 2019, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and will continue on Saturday, June 29, 2019, until the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.

London Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
