Charles Richard Orr I, 78, of Starkville, Miss., died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at his daughter's home in Seagrove, N.C. after a long battle with cancer.
Family visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 10, at London Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at London Funeral Home, with nephews Randy Short and Richard Short officiating. Burial will follow at Temple Cemetery in Farmington.
Mr. Orr was born in Farmington on June 4, 1934, to James Howard Orr and Gladys Fagan Orr. He was a current member of Starkville Church of Christ and had retired from Borden Eagle Brand Milk Division after more than 45 years of employment.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Janice Chapman Orr, on April 7, 2011.
In addition to his wife, preceding him in death were his parents; his four brothers, James Howard "Pete" Orr Jr., Robert Orr, Thomas Orr, and Paul Orr; and his oldest sister, Dorothy Chunn.
Surviving Mr. Orr are two children, daughter Kimberly Orr Harmon (husband Carl) of Seagrove, N.C. and son Charles Richard Orr II (wife Kimberly) of Starkville, Miss. Grandchildren are Lauren Moss Pate (Luke) and Callie Moss Coward (Victor) of Ramseur, N.C.; Will Moss of Asheboro, N.C.; and Aaron Orr, Matthew Orr, Coby Cabaniss, Hollie Overby-Orr, and Blake Orr, all of Starkville, Miss. Surviving great-grandchildren are Kierstyn Pate, Emma Grace Moss, Chloe Moss, and Carson Coward, all of North Carolina. Surviving sisters are Martha Short and Anna Clark of Lewisburg.
Memorial donations may be made to the Church of Christ in either Starkville, Miss. or Farmington, Tenn.
