Edith Bills McClelland, 90, widow of William Thomas (Tom) McClelland, died March 30, 2020, in Lexington, KY. She was born in 1929 in Lewisburg, TN to the late Harold and Emalene Warwick Bills. Mrs. McClelland was a long-standing member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Lexington.
She is survived by her daughters, Cathleen Shai Marshall of Lexington, Ky and Marion Colleen McClelland (Randall Slaybaugh) of Westerville, OH; son, Timothy Michael McClelland (Margaret Carpenter) of Lenoir City, TN; sister, Annette Bills Lawrie of Lewisburg, TN; four grandchildren, Wesley Brice Marshall of Lexington, KY, Nicholas Michael (Nicole) of Poughkeepsie, NY, William Michael Pitts of Tipp City, OH and Elizabeth Colleen Pitts of Georgetown, KY; several great-grandchildren and her niece and nephews, Melinda Lawrie (Jim) Epperson of Slidell, LA and Bill Lawrie and Wicky Lawrie of Nashville, TN.
Mrs. McClelland, a retired school teacher at Booker T. Washington Elementary in Lexington, KY for her entire career of 21 years, was a graduate of Peabody College and completed graduate work at the University of Kentucky. She was a tireless advocate for her beloved dogs and all animals. Please consider a donation to the animal rescue of your choice.
A memorial service for Mrs. McClelland will be held in September in Lexington, KY.
