James A. Sullivan, 72, a resident of Bob Davis Road in Lewisburg, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013, at his residence.
A memorial service was held Sunday, June 16, at Belfast Presbyterian Church in Belfast, with Wesley Thomason officiating.
Born in Lincoln County on Sept. 15, 1940, James was the son of the late Albert Edward and Addie Mae Lasater Sullivan.
He worked as an automobile body repairman for 50 years and created his own version of a hat dance. He enjoyed picking guitar with the boys, and spending time with family and friends.
Along with his parents, Mr. Sullivan was preceded in death by a sister, Emmer Fay Luna, and a brother, Ronald Edward "Ronnie" Sullivan.
He is survived by the love of his life, Elaine Sullivan; two sons, Christopher Lawrence Sullivan of Shelbyville and James A. "Jimmy" Sullivan Jr.; daughter, Anita Darnell of Lewisburg; brother, David Royce Sullivan of Fayetteville; sister, Mildred Elizabeth O'Connor of Fayetteville; seven grandchildren, Randy Lee Darnell Dunkleman, Jessie Machell York, Samantha Joyce Darnell, Kevin Wesley Sullivan, Sarah Mackenzie Sullivan, Gwendolyn Shae Sullivan, and Xander Laine Sullivan; four great-grandchildren, William Connor Dunkleman, Robert Tavin Dunkleman, Katharine Mina York, and Willow-Leah Caroline Darnell; and several nieces and nephews, including Phillip Edward Overcast.
Heritage Funeral Home, funeral director Christopher Taylor, assisted the family and was in charge of the arrangements.
