James Calvin “Jimmy” Hunter, Jr., 81, of Lewisburg, TN, initially was hospitalized on June 23, 2019, in Whitehorse, YT Canada and died on July 21, 2019, at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN from heart complications. He was a construction supervisor for the State of Tennessee Transportation Department. He enjoyed baseball, gardening, coon hunting, fishing, and travel. Jimmy took delight in the companionship of many friends. In 1961, he was the winner of the World Championship Coon Hunt.
Born on Jan. 14, 1939, in Marshall County, he was the son of the late James Calvin “Cap” Hunter and the late Virginia Gillespie Hunter. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his wife, Shirley Isley Hunter and brother, Bobby Hunter. Survivors include his sister, Linda Aymett, Nashville, TN; daughter, Scarlet (George) White, Franklin, TN; son, Montgomery Hunter, Baton Rouge, LA; son, Chase (Lisa) Hunter, Culleoka, TN; six grandchildren, Lynn (Klay) Lesko, Georgia (Alex) Niccum, Django Hunter, John Grant Hunter, Nathan Hunter and Charlotte Hunter.
At his direction, no funeral services will be held and his body donated for medical research.
