He was a native of Lewisburg, and moved to Philadelphia, Miss. 30 years ago. He worked as plant supervisor for Grey Iron Foundry in Lewisburg. Mr. Harris was a former salesman for Foust Textiles and worked in insurance and pre-need sales for Nowell Funeral Home in Philadelphia, Miss. Joe T. Harris, 84, of Philadelphia, Miss., died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, Miss.
He was a native of Lewisburg, and moved to Philadelphia, Miss. 30 years ago. He worked as plant supervisor for Grey Iron Foundry in Lewisburg. Mr. Harris was a former salesman for Foust Textiles and worked in insurance and pre-need sales for Nowell Funeral Home in Philadelphia, Miss. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and was a past Mason and Shriner.
Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Lynn Womble; brother, J.C. Harris; and sister, Sarah Harris.
Survivors include his wife, Dot Harris of Philadelphia, Miss.; son, Rick Harris of Antioch, Tenn.; grandson, Bill Womble of Fayetteville, Tenn.; two stepgrandchildren; sister, Nell Sanders of Cornersville; and niece, Linda Genella of Dickson, Tenn.
Services for Mr. Harris were held Thursday, Sept. 12, from McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Curt Pace officiating. Burial followed in Cedarlawn Cemetery.
McClain-Hays Funeral Home in Philadelphia, Miss. was in charge of arrangements.
