John David Murphy, 89, of Murfreesboro, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at his residence.
Mr. Murphy was a native of Huntsville, AL, born to Dave Milton and Lily Mae Fitch Murphy on March 23, 1928. He was a retired machinist and member of the Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Ray Murphy and five sisters, Ima Jean Rogers, Lucille Whisante, Marveline Sullivan, Josephine Kaffman, and Manilla Coleman. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Jean Elders Murphy of Murfreesboro; daughter, Carolyn Jean Murphy and son, James David Murphy both of Murfreesboro; sister, Martha Gale Hill of Lewisburg; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Graveside services were conducted Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, at 10 a.m. in Head Springs Cemetery.
There was no visitation prior to the graveside services. Family and friends met at Head Springs Cemetery on Sunday morning.
