Marzee Frances McClain, 86, of Lewisburg, TN died Sunday, July 7, 2019, at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, TN. She was preceded in death, by her mother, Mrs. Sadie “Sis” Novella Jones and father, Mr. James Wilson McClain.
Although born and raised in Tennessee, Marzee spent several years as a resident of Detroit, MI. She was employed by General Motors Corporation over 20 years. Later she returned to Lewisburg where she went to work at Marshall Medical Center in the Dietary Department and later as a caregiver for the Impact Center.
While living in Detroit, she was baptized into Christ and was a faithful member of New Hebrew Church of Christ of the Berlin Community. Reading was her full time passion. Most of all, however, Marzee spent her life helping others. She will be fondly remembered for preparing and taking food to the sick, bereaved, or anyone having a hard time just to let them know she cared. Her benevolence will be missed in the community.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Cheryl (Will) Taylor; Novella (Hundley) Ford and Michelle “Stoochie” (Damon) Marsh all of Lewisburg, TN; two son, James Tyrone McClain of Tacoma, WA and Winston “Tommy” (Sue) McClain of Lewisburg, TN.; ten grandchildren, Tanya (Michael) Johnson of Nashville, TN, Kimberland (Boyce) Johnson of Tyler, TX, Paulette Carter of Spring Hill, TN, Jeremy McClain of Tacoma, WA, Chad McClain of Shelbyville, TN, Hundley (Stacey) Ford, Jr. of Chicago, IL, Timothy (Cristy) Ford of Shelbyville, TN, Tiffany Ford Gardner of Cordova, TN, Jarod Ford of Nashville, TN and Kaci McLean of Lewisburg, TN. Twenty-four great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren also survive. Other survivors include devoted cousin, Tina Lyttle and devoted friends, Julia Norwood and Julie Johnson all of Lewisburg, TN, as well as a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, July 12, 2019, at the Second Avenue Church of Christ with burial in the Cook Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marshall County Memorial Library or the Bill Wheatley VFW Post 5109, Lewisburg, TN.
Mayberry Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
