Melvis Jean Bowers Burrow, age 93, of Cornersville, TN, died Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Marshall Medical Center.

Melvis was born Jan. 5, 1930, in Cornersville, TN, to the late Sambo and Betty Lou Harmon Bowers. Prior to retirement, she was a salesperson and bookkeeper for the National Store, Sullivan’s, and Dr. J. C. Leonard. She was a member of Cornersville United Methodist Church. Melvis knew everyone in Cornersville and was always the person to go to for news about the community. She dearly loved her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Burrow; sisters, Betty Tilford and Brownie Capps; niece, Barbara “Bobby” Roberts and nephew, Sammie Tilford.

She is survived by her nephews, Freddie (Barbara) Capps of Cornersville and Ernie Tilford of Hendersonville; nieces, Betty Jane Evans of New York, Mary Ann Daily and Teresa Keown of Louisville, KY.

Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of Cornersville Funeral Home, 310 North Main St., Cornersville, TN 37047, with burial to follow in Beechwood Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held at Cornersville Funeral Home on Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cornersville United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
