Rita L. Box Phillips, 82, of Fayetteville, TN, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center. She was born on Nov. 17, 1940, in Hale, MS, daughter of the late William Claude Box and Janie Alene Lynchard Box.

Mrs. Phillips was a devoted and loving mother and homemaker for many years prior to her employment at Teledyne in Lewisburg, TN. She was a former Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader and she enjoyed fishing and reading. She served in her church choir, led the women’s prayer group, and was a faithful member of the Little Flat Creek Baptist Church in Corryton, TN for several years. Rita was a prayer warrior and prayed over people at every opportunity.

She is survived by her husband, Richard C. Phillips of Fayetteville; children, Richard Allen Phillips (Nancy) of Cornersville, TN, Rita L. Spence (Jeff) of Darby, MT, Becky Blasingim (T-Layne) of Fayetteville and Randi Bell (Terry) of Rapid City, SD; grandchildren, Richard Lee Phillips, Victoria Mitchell, Jesse Phillips, Levi Spence, Logan Spence, Cody Phillips, Madison Steelman, Mariah Smith, Tyler Street, Sam Bell and Danny Bell; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rose Delong and Sylvia Ahlborn both of Fayetteville; and brother, Joe Box of Indiana.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Ron Bolin officiating. Burial will follow in Medium Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.
