Gwendolyn "Ginny" Davidson, 64, died May 11, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Yvonne Johnson Crutcher and Lee Vernon Johnson, and sister of the late Terry and Charles Johnson. Sam W. Black, 76, of Murfreesboro, died Sunday morning, May 13, 2012, in Murfreesboro.
Mr. Black was born in Marshall County and was a son of the late George C. and Annie Sue King Black. He served in the Army National Guard and was a member of Windrow Community Church. Mr. Black was an evangelist and worked at Durango Boot Company of Chapel Hill until its closing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Ann Scribner Black, who died in 2008; two sons, William Sam Black and Sam Washington Black Jr.; a grandson, Jeff Hale; and a sister, Mary Ann Jones.
Mr. Black is survived by his wife, Wanda Black of Murfreesboro; daughters, Wanda Crook of Louisiana, Tammy (Ben) Crick of Rockvale, and Melissa (Pedro) Mota of Texas; sons, James (Carol) Black of Louisiana, Ricky (Becky) Black of Lewisburg, and Bobby (Rhonda) Black of Murfreesboro; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Br. David Humphrey officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery in Culleoka.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
