To say that Tennessee Walking Horses are a part of Marshall County’s history would be an understatement, but it’s easy for the young and uninitiated to overlook this equine breed’s historical roots in our community.

To that end, following is a list of World Grand Champion Tennessee Walking Horses that have direct ties to our county.

Merry Go Boy, 1947-48 ridden by Winston Wiser and owned later and stabled at S. W. Beech & Sons Stables in Belfast, Tenn.

Go Boy’s Shadow, 1955-56 ridden by Winston Wiser owned later and stabled at S. W. Beech & Sons Stables in Belfast, Tenn.

Mack K’s Handshaker, 1960 owned by Myron and Doug Wolaver of Diana, Tenn., and ridden by Doug Wolaver.

Ebony Masterpiece, 1962 ridden by Sam Paschal and stabled at S. W. Beech & Sons Stables in Belfast, Tenn.

Triple Threat, 1965 ridden by Doug Wolaver of Diana, Tenn.

Go Boy’s Sundust, 1967, ridden by Doug Wolaver of Diana, Tenn.

Delight Bummin Around, 1973 owned by Ten-Tucky Stables (John and Mary Miller) of Lewisburg and ridden by Billy Gray of Shelbyville, Tenn.

Another Masterpiece, 1974 ridden by Ronnie Spears and stabled at S. W. Beech & Sons Stables in Belfast, Tenn.

Doc’s High Tribute, 1988 ridden by Steve Aymett of Lewisburg, Tenn.

Masquerading, 1998 owned by Dee Dee Sale of Lewisburg and ridden by Know Blackburn, a native of Giles County and now of Franklin, Tenn.
